  1. Super Cereal

After a little bit of a bumpy start, this thing has become a very useful tool!
The bumpy start I’m talking about is regarding the probe not properly reporting the temperature from inside of a roast. No matter what we tried, we were unable to get it to connect to the base station, and therefore it was not able to be used properly.Upon rereading the instructions, we found how to force a complete reset and this proved to be the solution needed. This in conjunction with a full charge proved to the exactly what the doctor ordered. We used it the next weekend while smoking a tri-tip on a Weber and it was compared to readings from a trustee, Thermoworks pen type thermometer and the readings were close enough to give us confidence in this unit.Until you’ve used a wireless meat probe, you may not understand just how helpful they can be. We smoke a lot of meat on our slow and sear kettle, and our Weber kettle, and not having to open the lid to see both the temperature of the meat and the ambient temperature right next to it is incredibly helpful. That’s right, in case you missed it, this one probe gives you two readings – one at the point and one at the butt. Fantastic! If you’re not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on something like the Thermoworks RFX, this could be a very good option for you. The buy in is rather low for very high-end results.Easily and highly recommended, just make sure you read the directions lol

A good, but overpriced, remote thermometer
First off, here is why I took 2 stars off of this device. First is the price. The features of this unit don’t justify the high $80 price point. It is only Bluetooth, and not WiFi, so you have to be close by to get the readings on your phone. The 2nd is the app itself which is very basic. While it has settings for all meat types with recommended temperatures, it doesn’t give categories of those types. I smoked an 11lb pork butt and the only setting is pork and has a recommended “well done” temperature of 160 degrees. If you have done pork butts you know you want them to be in the 203-205 range so the fat will get rendered. My other remote thermometer asks what type of pork are you making, and not only gives the correct temperature range for them, but also will give an alarm when to take it off heat a few degrees before because meat will increase in temperature for a time after removing from heat. Now, let me talk about the good. The Bluetooth range is excellent. The thermometer sends a signal to the base and the base sends a signal to your phone. When I had the probe in the meat in my smoker I had the base a good 20 feet away from the smoker and from there my phone could read the temperature in most places of my house. However, when I put the butt in a foil pan and wrapped in aluminum foil the base could only be a foot or two away from the probe to be able to get a signal. Which is typical. My high end Meater remote thermometer is about the same.I originally had the temperature set to 160 which is when I move the butt to a foil pan and cover. The alarm went off on the base when it got to that temperature but the app alarm did not go off until I opened the app. The app was open on my phone, just not active. After wrapping I then set the temperature alarm to 203. For some reason the base and app alarm did not go off when it reached that temperature. When I looked at the app it showed the meat was at 211 and I had to take if off the heat. The battery life is good, as you can see in the photos I posted after 17 hours the battery life had 4% remaining. Far less then their stated 48 hour battery life. However, when the probe battery died after 17 and a half hours the base just stopped reporting temperature and it showed the battery at 100% again (see the phone with the probe, base and app). Same with the app. No alarm or warning that the battery had died or the base had lost communication with it.If this was a $25 remote thermometer I would have given it 5 stars. However, at this price point, there are far better alternatives you can get for the same price or a little bit more.

Hands off temps that are spot on
I cook on a backyard grill and smoker and wanted a simple way to track temps without lifting the lid. I charged the case, paired the probe in the app, and was up and running in a few minutes. I used it for a long pork shoulder and again on steaks the next night. The probe slid in cleanly and the connection stayed solid across my patio. The dual readings for meat and ambient matched the listing and lined up within a couple degrees of my instant read. The app is clear and lets me set my own target temp and alerts, then shows a live graph so I can tweak vents instead of guessing. Build feels sturdy and the charging case keeps the probe ready, and cleanup was quick. After two cooks I trust it for functionality, accuracy, quality, easy installation, adjustable alerts and targets, and overall value.

From “Hope It’s Done” to Prime Rib Hero
I’ve ruined more than one expensive cut of meat by doing the old poke it, squint at it, and hope for the best method. But last weekend I tackled a prime rib roast armed with this Wisebee thermometer—and let me tell you, I felt like a five-star chef.Short story: I seasoned up the roast, slid the probe in, and let Bluetooth do the babysitting while I sipped wine and pretended I wasn’t sweating bullets over the outcome. Every few minutes, my phone pinged me with real-time updates like some kind of roast whisperer. The thermometer tracked both the oven’s ambient heat and the meat’s internal temp, so there was no guessing. When it hit the exact target temp, I pulled it out, let it rest, and sliced into the most perfect medium-rare prime rib I’ve ever made. Juicy, tender, and evenly cooked all the way through. My husband actually asked me what restaurant I had picked it up from.Cleanup? Tossed the waterproof probe in the dishwasher and called it a day. Honestly, this thing turned me from a nervous roaster into a confident cook. Worth every penny.
