    He’ll be happy!
It’s a gift for my son-in-law, an analyst/journalist for decades. These journals will give him incentive to write his stories!

An interesting idea, nicely structured. Very professionally done.
I think journaling is essential to understanding yourself. It is also a way to motivate you. I’m in a habit of listing what I would like to accomplish each day. This habit came from a technical job of many years and it has always suited me well. Mind you, anyone who does this knows, the list is never 100% done. Life intervenes. But at least it provides a structure. This book has a unique take on journaling. Rather than pages of thoughts, ideas, meanderings, there are essentially bullet points. The 5 Ws referenced in the name of this journal are: What, When, Where, Why and How. The who is clearly you. Just the facts, Ma’am.The instructions to the book are not rigid. You don’t have to do this each day. It suggests starting with a Milestone review, also using this structure, so you have an idea on where you are starting and as time goes on, you trigger when the next milestone is.There is also a section in the center where you can provide more detail. Each page is numbered so you can reference these longer sections within your daily note. The book has two sides. Intentions on one, Reflections on the other.Intentions have the same 5Ws but you are prompted to anticipate how the day should go: Tasks, people you expect to deal with, challenges, emotions, fun. All the important stuff. On one page, briefly.PHILOSOPHYReflections are meant to qualify how the day went, relative to the intentions. If anything over time, it may help you plan. I know when working (I’m now retired), I had grand illusions on how much could be done in one day. We all do. Even now at home, my list can get long. But, the important stuff percolates up. You know the stuff that is in your face, real deadlines or stuff that is not contingent on others. Also you know if others are waiting on you, that you need to get the move on. I’m the queen of post-it notes and basically this is how you might populate this page, as if you were writing on a post-it note.BOOK STRUCTUREStructurally the book is interesting. Intentions on one side, the Milestone review is on this side and Reflections on the other side. So, you flip the book over and start from the other side. You have two ribbons. One to keep your place in Intentions, one for Reflections. The free writing space in the center is on the Reflections side, but can contain stuff from either. There are 91 pages devoted each to Intentions and also to Reflections. Essentially 3 months worth. There are 15 spots for Milestones and 8 pages for Free Writing (college ruled). The pages are all numbered uniquely with ii before the number on the Reflection side and just numbered on the Intention side. They don’t match up. Namely the first Intention page is page 31, whereas the first Reflection page is ii10. Hence the need for the ribbons. The back part of the book also has a pocket. In the user guide, they suggest using some stickers, or tabs to note special days, so this could be a place to store them.Overall having not used it yet, I think it is an interesting strategy. I’m looking forward to using it.I like prompting journals. Each brings a different flavor, till you find one that really resonates. I like to try them all. Maybe you do too.

Lots of potential carefully managed in bite-sized portions to help the novice journaler get started
Bottom line up front: This is an interesting, and well-done, journal concept. It flips over from a morning look-ahead section to an evening look-back section, and is separated in the middle by some pages that allow you to expand your thoughts. It is designed to be easy to use, so the boxes are small and there is a lot of rating things from 1-10 in order to track their fluctuations. It does not require you to participate daily, which is nice. It is also nice that you can do both a forward and backward look in the same book. This is almost a beginner’s journal — it’s intent is to guide and focus, and in that respect I think it succeeds. There are two parts to this journal. The first is the “Intention” portion, in which you take stock of where you are and how you are feeling. It is designed to be filled in early, and asks you to anticipate your day from a series of “who, what, where, when, why and how” questions. The spaces for writing are small, designed to help you focus and not present you with a big, blank page that can be daunting. On the reverse side (you flip the entire book over) is the “reflection” section, which asks a series of “who, what, where, when, why and how” questions that help you take stock of the day. The format is clean and clear, and I think it works well to help focus you on the practice of journaling without throwing you off the deep-end. It looks manageable and it is manageable. There are also ample instructions and suggestions at the start of both sections to help you consider what you might find helpful. All in all, this is a thoughtful, well-done bit of work and if you are new to journaling, or have been out of the practice for a while, this is a really good, manageable way to get started.

Aesthetically Beautiful with Unique, Well-Organized Design
This journal is a terrific choice for anyone who enjoys spending a few minutes in reflection at the start and end of the day.The item arrived in a bubble mailer and was packaged in a simple plastic polybag, so I was initially concerned that the scratches and slight damage on the wrapping might mean the journal inside was also affected. Fortunately, once removed from the packaging, the journal was in perfect condition. The journal itself has a smooth, hard cover in a lovely color, and the inside pages are thick enough to allow writing on both sides without any ink bleeding through. The introductory section explains the layout and purpose of the journal, followed by milestone review pages that help track progress over time, daily “Intention” and “Reflection” sections with insightful prompts, and a few lined, blank pages in the middle for additional notes you may wish to make.A unique aspect of this journal’s design is that the “Intention” pages (filled out at the start of the day) are at the front, while the “Reflection” pages (completed at day’s end) are located at the back, upside down, so you access them by flipping the book over. It’s a clever and intuitive layout that keeps your thoughts separate yet connected. The journal also includes two ribbon bookmarks, so you can easily find your place in both sections.Overall, I really like this journal and appreciate that it is both aesthetically attractive and functionally well designed. It would make a thoughtful gift for a friend or a fantastic investment in your own self-care and personal growth journey.
