    100% worth it!!
This is such a good alarm clock! Easy instructions, easy setup, and it truly does make a huge difference in waking up in the mornings. You can choose multiple alarm sounds, adjust the brightness of the “sunrise”, and it even has a bedtime feature! We were skeptical of how much we would actually like this, but we couldn’t function without it now! Definitely worth the purchase.

Only alarm clock that’s worked for me
**Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5**I initially bought the Philips SmartSleep Wake-up Light for my mom, and she absolutely loved it. After seeing how well it worked for her, I decided to get one for myself—and I’m so glad I did!**Pros:**- This wake-up light actually works! I was a bit skeptical at first, thinking it was just another gimmicky alarm clock, but it really helps me wake up smoothly and gently. The gradual light simulation is fantastic, and I often wake up a few minutes before my alarm goes off, feeling more refreshed.- The colored sunrise and sunset simulations are a nice touch, and the 5 natural sounds (plus FM radio) are perfect for a relaxing wake-up experience. It even doubles as a reading lamp, which is really handy.- It’s a game-changer for deep sleepers like myself—much better than a traditional alarm clock.**Cons:**- It does take a little time to set up, but honestly, it’s not enough to take away from the overall experience. It’s definitely worth the effort.Highly recommend this product to anyone, especially deep sleepers who need a gentle way to start their day!

Don’t be like me – read the user guide!
I purchased this as I have black out curtains and keep them pulled as I have close neighbors. My experience has been interesting so maybe listing my goof ups will help!1) read the guide! Don’t be like me thinking you can wiz through it. If you do, you may be starting over (and over) like I had to lol2) use caution when moving it. If your hand hits any of the buttons around it, it can change things and then you have to redo…again. But once it’s in place, it will be fine.3) when setting the time and alarm, it was hard for me to see the am and pm. Maybe because I needed my glasses on? Who knows. So tip is to wear your glasses.4) make sure you choose 12H if you set your alarm to the regular time. Army time, use the 24H. I leaned this lesson the hard way when it didn’t wake me up the first morning…5) make sure it is angled toward you if you are a heavy sleeper: initially I had it facing outward. It really didn’t help much. I moved it closer and angled directly at me. That was a game changer.6) listen to all the sounds it offers. There is one (maybe 3) that I just hit and when it came on, it freaked me out a little bit. Maybe too many horror shows, but it reminded me of the music that is played right before the ghost jumps out…lol7) it does have a snooze option but tbh, I’m scared to use it until I get more used to where the buttons are and where to place my hand. So I have my phone as backup.8) final tip, test it out before you actually need it one morning. That way you can make sure you didn’t accidently push a button and turn off the alarm (which is one push on the side) and it’s angled correctly.Overall, is it a game changer? No. Does it help me to wake up better and it brightens the room? Absolutely!!!

    Sunset Simulation!
Originally purchased my Philips SmartSleep, years ago, in order to awaken with light and it does a great job of this. However, the true bonus turned out to be the pleasant efficacy of its sunset simulator go-to-sleep feature. Imagine a light that not only dims over time but also reddens as it dims, and goes through the sort of pinkish-orangish red reminiscent of beautiful sunsets, providing a pre-sleep ambience whose gradually diminishing intensity and simultaneously increasingly red hue does indeed physiologically prepare you to go to sleep.Another Philips SmartSleep plus is that it has intuitive integral controls, ideal for simply winding down without needing to use a screen and/or app in order to set it. While app-based products may offer more proverbial bells and whistles, they also inevitably lengthen the time required to get to sleep… sometimes even defeating the purpose via temptation for just one more text/email message, just one more social.media refresh, just one more news scroll-through, and so on, for however many minutes or hours. The only thing that could be better about the Philips SmartSleep would be if it had a touch-to-activitate nightlight mode, whereby touching anywhere (or, at least, a very large and centrally located button) would either provide a dim reddish light or turn it off.Although easy enough to turn on and off using small buttons while one is awake, this isn’t necessarily ideal human factors engineering for the semi-awake, semi-coordinated.Finally, other than this potential improvement, the Philips SmartSleep is well-designed, effective, well-made, and well worth the nightstand real estate it elegantly occupies. While initially shopping, opted for this based on its features, design, and manufacturer — a decision that has thus far resulted in several years of reliable usage. And, as mentioned, purchased to enable waking-to-light, and soon found that its *sunset* simulation sleep feature was just as pleasant, if not perhaps more so, than the sunrise simulation wake-up. Dividing its cost by the number of days in use, and considering the value of waking up to light, plus being able to add sunset simulation as a pre-sleep cue, Originally purchased my Philips SmartSleep, years ago, in order to awaken with light and it does a great job of this. However, the true bonus turned out to be the pleasant efficacy of its sunset simulator go-to-sleep feature. Imagine a light that not only dims over time but also reddens as it dims, and goes through the sort of pinkish-orangish red reminiscent of beautiful sunsets, providing perfect ambiance for one’s journey into restful sleep.Another Philips SmartSleep plus is that it has integral controls, ideal for just winding down without having to use a screen and/or app in order to set it.The only thing that could be better about the Philips SmartSleep would be if it had a touch-to-activitate nightlight mode, whereby touching anywhere (or, at least, a very large and centrally located button) would either provide a dim reddish light or turn it off.Although easy enough to turn on and off using small buttons while one is awake, this isn’t ideal human factors engineering for the semi-awake.Other than this potential improvement, the Philips SmartSleep is well-designed, effective, well-made, and well worth the nightstand real estate it elegantly occupies. Since it’s used daily, this product’s cost became rather negligible over time (price divided by number of days over however many years), and its reliability has proved positively priceless.

I’m really happy with this product.I found setting the clock and alarm quite intuitive.I like the feature of a 30-minute sunset, as it gives me time to get into bed and sort myself while still having light but I don’t have to get up to switch my bedroom light off and turn my room into instant blackness. Love the peaceful descent into slumber. The light can get as bright as you want it – to me it simulates the sun. They say there are 3 colours to choose from but you can’t choose. The light is more red and orange at low light and slowly becomes yellow as the light gets brighter. At first I was disappointed that there wen’t any colour options but now I’m not sure I would use multiple options, as I would want to simulate natural light as much as possible. Some have commented there is no battery in case the power goes out. While this is true in a sense, I can say that when the power returns, the clock doesn’t need to be reset – it keeps the time and alarms that were stored before it lost power. I’m not sure how long it keeps the settings before it needs to be reset. I unplugged it for an hour and everything was as before when I plugged it back in. So I’m happy with that. The radio is a decent quality. Not powerful but also not like listening to something in a tin can. Can also deliver a little bit of bass, so no complaints there.Very happy with this purchase.

    普段は朝日で目覚めるので、除雪や早朝出勤のために、冬の日の出前に起きるのが大変でした。使った初日から、朝日で起きるのと同じ感覚で目覚めることができました。大変いい商品です。

Horribly expensive here in India. But cheaper than an air fare. I bought my original, glass, model (this one is plastic) in UK, but, after some years its buttons are failing. It is part of my wake-up life. Don’t know how I could live without it. And, as I said, cheaper than an air fare.Is it worth it to YOU? At this price, probably not.

Edit: Mar 30/19. This thing is still freaking amazeballs. If I get tired of the 5 alarm sounds then I set my RockClock to the alarm time and then wake up to the Rock singing “wake up sunshine” lol. It’s nice not being blasted awake by sound in the dark anymore. Thank you Philips! This thing is freaking amazeballs!Backstory: I have been unable to wake up to an alarm for over 20 years. I have to set it 2 hours before I need to get up. I’ll press snooze 20 times. I’ve changed settings, alarm times, alarm sounds, added math questions, put it across the room, etc, etc. Nothing wakes me up. When I got my dog a year and a half ago I started getting up early because she got up early. And then she got lazy and also wouldn’t wake up to any of my alarms. Last week I pressed snooze every 10 minutes from 5am to 7am… My issue? I dream very very deeply. One morning last week my phone was a clamshell that I had to open and close at each alarm and press inside the clamshell (ie: lifting the phone/clamshell, pressing snooze/clamshell innards, and putting the phone back down/closing the clamshell). It’s always something. It’s always been this way.Reasons to by this alarm clock / small sun:1) Even if the light and sound don’t fully get me going it wakes up my dog, who, before this, wouldn’t wake up to any alarm. The light wakes her up and she thinks it’s time to get out of bed and eat. My dog doesn’t come with a snooze button so up we get! The light does wake me up before the alarm sounds goes off (I chose birds which sound hella nice). I have the light set to brighten over a 30 min period and I start to wake up about 20 min through it.2) Some reviewers have complained about the buttons. They’re where they are for a reason. It’s an alarm that lights up like a small sun… The buttons aren’t supposed to be easy to locate at 5am so you can just turn it off.3) Some reviewers have complained that it’s hard to set up. It literally has the easiest manual – with pictures… Grade 5 is calling and it wants all those reviewers back.4) You can only snooze the sound, not the light. If you can go back to sleep during the 10 min snooze. I probably could. Thank goodness for my dog.EDIT: I put it across my room so I wouldn’t press snooze on the sound. Now I just lay there for a minute or two when the sound comes on (I chose birds) and listen. I’m awake at this point, but have no urge to get out of bed to turn off the sound (before I think the blaring of whatever sound in the dark was so shocking to my system that I would try to turn it off as fast as possible). This is the first time in my life I have woken up to an alarm and haven’t pressed snooze. 2 days in a row now!5) It wakes you up so nice and gentle-like. Screw being violently attacked by noise at some dark ungodly hour! I like being caressed awake thank you very much.
