This is the second one of this model that I’ve had. (Dog ruined the first one.) I loved it so much I chose to repurchase the same one rather than possibly striking out with another. It gets very hot on the high setting, and can be used dry or damp for moist heat. Underneath the cover, the heating elements are encased in water resistant vinyl which allows for the cover to be moistened. There are 3 heat settings. This model used to have a digital control, but this particular one doesn’t, so it doesn’t have an automatic shut off timer which is fine by me. I’d rather just turn it off when I prefer. I love this heating pad and I can’t live without it.

My review
I got the Sunbeam XL heating pad for back pain, and overall it does the job well. The extra-large size is great because it covers most of my back at once, so I don’t have to keep moving it around. It heats up fairly quickly and stays warm, and I like that you can use it with either dry or moist heat depending on what feels better.The cover is soft and removable, which makes it easy to keep clean. I also appreciate the auto-off feature for safety, though sometimes I wish it could stay on a bit longer. The only downsides are that the pad is a little stiff because of its size, and I’ve seen some people mention it can show error codes after a while, so durability might be hit or miss.Overall, though, it’s comfortable, easy to use, and really helps with sore muscles and back pain.

Just like I remember from my parents house in the 1970’s
My parents had a heating pad similar to this one in the 1970’s from Sunbeam. I think it lasted 40 years. I’ve been having shoulder and neck pain and wanted a heating pad. Of course I searched for Sunbeam! I know it’s not made here anymore but had to buy this brand due to the brand longevity. It works great and heats up very fast.

I wouldn’t have any other…nice long, wide pad that does not have a timer. This is my second one…my first one still works quite well I just wanted one in my bedroom. Excellent quality! You won’t regret this one.

Decent temps, but missing auto-off
Temperature range is great – medium is very warm, high is nearly hot enough to avoid using for more than a minute at a time. 12″ is large enough to cover my abdomen, but too skimpy for over both shoulders. Fabric cover is ok, gives me hospital vibes, but I appreciate that you can get it damp for moist heat. Wish it had auto-off, that is an important safety feature.

This is the best heating pad I’ve used so far. It gets very hot compared to others that only get warm. It doesn’t automatically turn off so I’m able to use it the entire night without disruption.

I bought this for when my back pain kicks in, and I can tell you this really helps. It’s a nice and long heating pad, and the three settings of heat differ enough that the hottest setting is barely needed for me. I use it often, and I haven’t found any splitting in the plastic covering since I’ve gotten it and used it. I also really like that it has a shut off at 2 hours after turning it on. It claims that it’s waterproof on the packaging but I haven’t tried that yet and probably won’t, but the fact the cover for it is very durable makes me believe it most likely is.

Works good but I find that medium isn’t hot enough and high is too hot. I wish there were more temperature settings. Auto shut off is a great safety feature but I wish you could adjust the time for it to shut off. Overall a good product, appears to be well made.
