Great for my 3rd shift husband sleeping during the day
I bought this for my husband for Christmas , but after remembering we’d have a (noisy) kid home from school for Christmas break I gave it to him for our anniversary in November instead. He’s a 3rd shifter and apps he’d been using on his phone weren’t the greatest. He’d get a phone call during the day and the app would shut off and not turn back on. No worries about that with this sleek little machine. It’s got everything we needed in a white noise machine and more!Volume: The amount of volume control on this thing is insane! It can go pretty high, but you don’t lose sound quality when it’s up.Sound: There’s plenty of variety here. My husband switches between sounds every few days and I’ve only managed to catch the loop in one sound. (I stay at home and hear the machine all day as well.) My favorite is the waves turned down low like I’m hearing the ocean out my bedroom window.Sleep timer: I’ve started using this to relax me to sleep. I never intended to use it at all, but here we are. Depending on how late it is/ how wound up I still am at bedtime I’ll set it for any of the timer amounts. Most nights I’m asleep before even half the time has expired. I’ve only ever stayed awake through the whole timer once (thanks, Reddit) and I was disappointed to find out it just shuts off cold turkey. I expected a fade out, but no. I guess that’s not a huge deal for me as I’ve never noticed it shutting off after I’ve fallen asleep.Size and style: This thing is small enough it sits on our windowsill since we don’t have nightstands. (Don’t ask. It’s a point of contention in our house.) Between it’s size and the sleekness it’s not an eyesore at all. If we had it sitting elsewhere I wouldn’t be disgusted if someone came over and saw it. Our bedroom doesn’t have a “style” per say, but it definitely fits the decor.Overall I’m really happy with this purchase. Knowing now how good it is I probably would have paid more for it than I did. If/when this one goes out I’ll repurchase this exact one over searching for a new brand.

Very Good Unit – Better Quality Than Price Suggests
Obviously several weeks of ownership can’t really test for longevity, however the following ratings are all thought out carefully:Excellent sound quality – soothing without static – 5 out of 5Easy to use controls, especially the volume knob being only volume – 5 out of 5. The volume plus on/off control in the several competitor products owned to date has been their mechanical fail point. In this unit the on-off button is also the timer, with first choice being continuous, and then three other times. It is logical and intuitive.Symbols for each of the sound choices are clear and intuitive – 5 out of 5The USB charger port prevents need for unplugging to charge phone by bed at night, a real plus since with all machines reviewed, including Wave, an unplug automatically resets the machine to the default noise which is fan or static ( not as soothing as rain or waves) – 5+ out of 5The Wave does a great job of helping my wife get to sleep and then stay asleep and in REM state. She had a real problem with getting to sleep and then avoiding disrupted sleep. The Wave Sleep Therapy Sound machine has much improved her sleep health. 100 out of 5

Effective Sound Masking
The sound machine is effective at blocking the various outside noises that were disturbing my sleep. We like to sleep with a window open in the warmer months, and there was/is a yipping dog that the neighbors put outside before 7am most days. This dog also sings late into the night some nights, long after most dogs and people are asleep! The sound machine was very effective at completely blocking that, and also at blocking the random sounds of traffic and various outside noises.I like the white noise setting best. It becomes almost inaudible after a few minutes, and falls into the background. I once thought the dog wasn’t barking, only to test that by turning it off. The barking was still continuing. So, I’d give this a high rating for blocking sound, even at about half volume.I like the volume control, by the way. It’s nice to be able to control that.What I didn’t like was the repeat pattern is very short for the sounds. It’s most noticeable on the night sounds one, but there is a detectible repeat on all the choices. Even the white noise sound has a rhythmic repeat that can get annoying. Some I found so noticeable, that I couldn’t listen for more than a few minutes. I think it would be wonderful of the sound loops on the different choices were much longer. I can’t see a reason for them not to be.Once your ear catches the pattern, you can get rapidly annoyed by it, and the restfulness of the experience is diminished.So mostly, I’d say this is a very effective sound masking machine. It’s nice looking, easy to use, and seems well made. If you can tolerate the short loops, I’d recommend it. If not, then possibly you’re going to want to look for a different non-looping machine.

We got this for our newborn when we were desperate for sleep. It is so effective. Can’t hear looping and it will go infinitely or you can use a timer. It is small enough to travel with, which we did in the New Year.We bought a second one to keep at the grandparents’ house.
