Quick, easy and convenient!!
I like this thermometer because it’s quick, easy and convenient. You can turn the sound off which I like, so if you’re taking a sleeping babies temperature or trying to take your dog’s temperature you don’t wake them up or you don’t scare the dog. When I take my dog’s temperature I aim for the mouth at about one and a half inches away. It’s a lot easier than alligator wrestling her to the ground for an anal thermometer. Anyway I’ve been pleased with my purchase. I’ve tried multiple thermometers and I have bought two from this company and been very pleased.

Close enough, consistent enough
Things to know:The switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius is a physical toggle in the battery compartment.You want to be 1.2 inches or closer to what’s being measured. For my forehead, I went with contact (zero inches) and got consistent temp of 97.6, plus or minus a tenth of a degree Fahrenheit. So when I use this, that will be noted as my personal baseline. If, all other things being equal, I start to register 98.6 on this device, that’s a one-degree fever.I have an ear thermometer and a swipe-across-your-forehead thermometer that are no more consistent and accurate as this is, I would argue both are slightly less consistent.(Aside, IMHO the only way to be pretty darn sure you are as accurate as you can be is to use a rectal thermometer, and nobody, especially me, is actually gonna do that. Everything else is subject to environmental interference.)You can switch this over to another mode to measure the temperature of objects instead of people. But there is no reason to do so if you already have a relatively inexpensive device that does this from across the room, unlike this one that wants to be within an inch or so.When I switched to that “object” mode, suddenly my forehead registered as five degrees cooler than when I was in “people” mode, forehead mode, whatever it’s called. So, not really trusting the object mode.For measuring the forehead temp of a human with little fuss, this gives consistent readings, is easy as pie to use, is easy to read, and if you take a moment while everyone is healthy to take a half dozen readings per human, write down whose temperature is what, you’ll have baselines and therefore get a decent thumbnail guess as to whether you or they have a fever.Had they never said “and this will measure the temp of objects too” I would rate it five star, because for taking human temperatures, it is.
