Large light, making a difference
Overall a great light for those dark and grey winter days in the Pacific Northwest. Note, this is a large light and needs space.Positives: Excellent size, easy to use, solid stand, impactful luminosityPreferences: The base is large and requires a good amount of space. it would be great if the light would not only pivot vertically, but the ability to rotate left and right would improve adaptability for those who have less space. I use this on my desk at my office and because of its size and inability to move left or right, I have to move the entire unit to use it.Overall I gave it five stars for ease of set up and use. Large lighting area, effectiveness and quality.

Best remedy I’ve tried so far!
My current PCP doesn’t have enough history with me to understand how well I know my chronic issues and didn’t believe that my Circadian Rhythm delayed-phase sleep disorder, which stress may aggravate, is not a psychosomatic issue.So, on my own, I looked up more current treatments (I was last treated for it 25 yrs ago with mild sleeping pills and sleep hygiene training) and found the clinical guidelines for light therapy.No drugs needed! Given that my system is under major stress with my current severe health crisis, I didn’t want to try and work it out slowly with disciplined sleep hygiene regimen, but wanted a quicker treatment that would be minimally taxing.I highly recommend light therapy and the manufacturer posts the specific clinical guidelines for the five or six types of sleep disorders in adults and children that light therapy actually works for.I’ve been using my lamp as consistently as I can between hospital stays and appointments and can say that it works for me. There is no cure for my sleep disorder, only the ability to reset and then maintain until life circumstances throws it off again.The light is affordable, doesn’t require prescription, and helps my mood. Because of my health issues, maintaining a more positive frame of mind is difficult and I’m under lifting restrictions so the lamp placement isn’t optimum, but still works.You’ll need a sturdy base , I use a side table and when I can move it, a well-designed sturdy bed laptop tray. This design has the largest surface, but is slightly top-heavy and solid, so weight might be an issue when someone is in recovery or under lifting restrictions as I am temporarily.My only wish is for a dimmer. Because of my current limitations, a dimmer would make the regular light setting work better for me as a reading light. As it is, I use a light colored pillow case to cover and that works.

I bought this product after researching SAD light therapy and noticed that this brand is recommended by medical professionals. I live in Rochester NY which is rated #10 on the list of overcast cities with Anchorage Alaska being #1. Being middle aged now I have noticed that within the past few years the winters are getting harder to bear. I’ve also noticed that each time it gets to the beginning of March, I get this weird pressure behind my eyes, insomnia, lots of fatigue etc. Its probably a lot to do with seasonal allergies as well, but also I notice that I feel really irritated by the increasing light. I figured out on my own that if I’m feeling irritated by the early spring light its probably due to the shock of it because the months prior are very dark and typically I am the most happy by mid summer July and august. So by March I am like a prisoner just released from a dungeon and seeing light for the first time. I figured I would try to even out the light exposure for myself year round with this device. It arrived today and I was excited to see that it was really easy to put together, it only takes one screw and some patience while carefully sliding the lamp in place. Please ignore the reviews complaining about the brightness if it were any brighter you wouldnt be able to see a thing. Its large like the size of a monitor but the size seems necessary to get the full effect.upon turning it on and sitting for a bit I noticed an affect immediately bringing memories of sitting on a beach right back to me. Though it was a sunny day today and very bright , sitting under this lamp for 20 minutes made me feel much happier than sitting next to the window and I think it has to do with the way the colors in the light are carefully calculated. After one use I feel like I just went on a vacation to Florida. And, instead of napping after work I am up doing more housework . I never rave about products but I am just so pleased with this. I plan to give it as a gift at Christmastime and only regret that I didn’t buy it sooner. That said, I do feel that if you dont live in an overcast area and dont feel your mood change according to the calendar like clockwork as I do, this may not work for you or you may have other issues requiring different treatment. But if you truly suffer from the darkness this thing is definitely worth every cent.

I absolutely love my lamp! I’ve been using it every morning for 30 minutes when waking up, for the last month and a half. My depression has lifted and no PMS whatsoever this month! I wad considering medication prior to this, so…I love the size (big screen) and brightness level of the lamp. I can read or use my tablet under it without problems. A lot of people mentions finding the legs unsteady but I don’t have problems with this. It feels sturdy and quality. I know it’s all new for me but I am sold!! And I did a lot of research prior to buying and found this was one of the best. No regrets!** Update october 2020 : still using the lamp daily for 30 minutes, from september to June, and it`s still 100% effivient. Did not even have to replace a bulb yet! Still absolutely love it!

I bought this lamp to treat my seasonal blues and to give me some more energy throughout my day. I have had it for a couple weeks, and I think it is important to note to start out SLOWLY when using it! Everyone reacts differently – I used it for 30 minutes the first time I tried it and ended up feeling sick that day. Now I use it for about 15 minutes per morning and am working my way up to more time. The light is more intense then I was expecting in terms of brightness and physiological impact. Make sure you sit at minimum one foot away from the lamp, and have it beside you or diagonal to you, not directly in front as it can be harmful on your eyes. Compared to many of the harmful side effects of anti-depressants I think this could be a worthy low-risk method for those looking for more energy and increased moods during the dark months of the year.
