Comparing the 2025 model with the 2014/2015 one – almost identical for the same price
On the LEFT: new model, Yogasleep M1DSUSBK, assembled 06/25, purchased 07/25, $49.99On the RIGHT: old model, Marpac M1DSUSTN, assembled 11/14, purchased 01/15, $49.95(Both models were purchased via this listing – the company changed names in the meantime)I’ve used this noise machine almost nightly since I bought my 2015 model, which eventually developed a rattle about a year ago. It’s gone with me through a few moves and many hotel/Airbnb trips, so it’s taken a bit of a beating. Tried to take it apart and see if there was a bearing or something I could replace, but it seemed the whole thing was packed with dust and cat fluff. Immediately after putting it back together, it stopped working altogether on speed 1, so I cut my losses and bought a new one. Figured I’d take them apart at the same time to see if there was any difference.As you can tell, both models are about the same, with the following changes:- Label on top is now a flat reflective sticker instead of a rubberized decal- Label on bottom is updated- Black power cord instead of a transparent one- Center case piece now has a textured matte finish, but other pieces seem to be identical- Fan blades are held on with a nut and washer instead of a snap ring- Motor is from a different manufacturer- Slight changes in screw sizes (case screws are longer, motor screws are smaller) but nothing significantOtherwise, everything appears identical.The 2025 motor did not have a visible amperage rating anywhere, but both units pull about 18W when tested on a kill-a-watt, which is as rated.From an engineering perspective, it seems like this mostly went through some minor cosmetic cost reductions; otherwise it’s essentially the same product as it was 10 years ago. Not really a surprise for a $50 fan, but it’s worth the money imo.Subjectively, I’d say the 2025 model is a little bit louder, but that might just be because of the all the dust in my 2015 one dampening the sound and slowing the motor, so who knows. The tone of the sound is about the same. You’d have to have them side-by-side to notice any very subtle difference.So as of 2025, good product, great company. Just make sure you open it up every couple of years and give it a good blast of compressed air to clean out any dust, and you’ll probably get a good 10 years, if not more, out of this. I’d also make sure that fan nut is tightened down. Not a bad investment if you ask me!

This is the second one I bought. First one was the 39.00 model and we liked it. I decided to buy this moddle for our camper. So, I don’t have to remember to pack it. Comparing the two I love this one!! More options for changing the sound! Two speed fan and lots of adjustments. I like the low hum. I am happy with this one and amUsing it in the house . Now I have to remember to pack it in our camper! lol

Worked for me on day one
This worked for me on day one. For me, I always got enough sleep. This improved the quality of that sleep. I am impressed with how well it works. I feel so much better when I get up in the morning. Very easy to set up and use. It does not have a lot of buttons, dials and adjustments, just 2.

The one test
The difference between this and a digital one can easily be tested by a single thing – place them around the same volume and then put in earplugs. The Dohm, a natural fan, will be audible, while the digital one is easily drowned out. This is my fourth in 6 years – the fan does get loose eventually. I’ve taken it apart to try and tighten it but it seems the threads just become worn and there is nothing you can do. Wish it was more long lasting but the ability to drown out sound and help relaxation is incomparable.

This is the best white-noise machine out there. It’s the third one we buy; we now all have one in our bedrooms. It’s a steady noise; perfect for sleeping, concentrating, cutting out annoying noise coming from outside. Not quite as loud as an air purifier, but louder than a regular fan. Over the years, our kids have inherited our DOHM and the oldest model we have is probably 10 years old now. It still makes a perfectly steady noise; no rattles. We are 3 pp with ADHD in the family and this white-noise maker helps tremendously!!

J’ai le sommeil léger et l’utilisation du Dohm me permet un sommeil vraiment plus profond. Je pouvais me réveiller à cause du camion d’ordures, le conjoint qui cusine dans la pièce à côté, des amis qui parlent dans le salon. Mais avec le Dohm ça aide à couvrir les bruits et m’aide à m’endormir et à ne pas me réveiller.On a testé des modèles différents avec plusieurs bruits différents mais ça s’entend que c’est électronique et que les bruits sont “faux”. Celui ci est vraiment comme une fan mais sans le vent dans la chambre.On en a même 3! Un autre dans la chambre d’amis et un 3e que j’apporte dans TOUS mes déplacements quand je dors ailleurs.Je ne peux plus vivre sans!

Our dogs bark at a noisy pickup that goes up our street late at night when we’re asleep. Their sudden barking wakes us suddenly from a dead sleep and just about gives us a heart attack. So we decided based on the many positive reviews to try this Marpac white noise generator.The sound the unit makes reminds me of flying on a airliner with the combination of the air nozzles above and the soft drone of the engines. The tone of the rushing air sound can be adjusted by twisting the top. The volume (speed of the fan) has a high and low switch. This should allow most to tailor a sound that’s right for them.It took a few nights to get used to but my wife and I are definitely sleeping better.I’ve cut my sleeping medication use in half so that’s a big plus.It doesn’t block out the noisy truck completely so the dogs still give us the occasional heart attack but thankfully it happens much less.
