The Sound Machine Search Continues
I’m seriously debating returning this so-called Sound Oasis alarm clock as I’m not completely happy with it for the price I paid, $76.11 after tax. First off, there’s one measly fan sound, but not a deep soothing fan sound…more industrial, like a jack hammer. Awful. Also, the rain and thunder could’ve been a winner, but they added bees and other weird noises to the track, oddly. You do get a plethora of white/color noise options, everything from white to pink to green to brown, etc., including nature sounds mixed with these white/color noise frequencies, for example, green noise mixed with Niagara Falls, which sounds pretty decent. If you’re a white noise nut, which I’m not, you might like this machine. Having said that, I would trade in all those white noise options for one or two really awesome fan sounds, which this machine disappointingly doesn’t provide, so I’m still using my bulky old sound machine for its amazing fan sounds. Furthermore, there’s Bluetooth which (meh for music listening), according to the manual, can be used to synch the time from your phone; however, that function never worked for me, so I had to set the time manually, which wasn’t exactly 1-2-3 easy peasy…I found myself in 24-hour mode and couldn’t figure out how to set the clock to 12-hour mode. I did eventually stumble into getting the clock to show regular standard time but don’t ask me how I did it bc I don’t know — lol! The provided manual was no help. Lastly, and my main reason for my wanting to return this Sound Oasis alarm clock is that the alarm set button has been frequently unresponsive to my presses when entering alarm mode and when trying to select wake sounds. That last aspect has been especially frustrating.

A great machine, but…
So good so far. This is the third sound machine I have tried. I’m keeping it mainly because it plays continuously until I shut it off–and it plays green noise, which is what I was looking for. It has good sound quality for its size. The clock’s light can be turned off or set to various brightness levels. That’s a plus. There are lots of sound options on the machine. If you want more, there are many more available to stream through apps on your phone or other Bluetooth device. Some of these are free, others cost a small amount. You can also purchase additional sounds on SD cards from their website to avoid streaming from your phone. Costly, but well worth it because you can exchange the SD card in the machine. This saves from having to stream with your phone plugged in all night.Cons: USB energy driven. This isn’t a deal breaker for me, but it is an inconvenience. You have to scroll through all the sounds to find your sound each time if you want to change sounds. Other machines have category buttons, which makes it much easier to choose your sounds. Again, not a deal breaker, but an annoyance. However, these were big enough issues for me that it took the device down to 4 stars.

I have tinnitus and this really helps me forget that fact. Therre are great sound selections. The alarm is really nice. It isn’t jarring. It there was something I could change it would be making the alarm off button bigger, raised and textured. I highly recommend this clock.

GREAT Product for those with Tinnitus
Super product if you suffer from Tinnitus like I do.It has multiple brightness settings for the clock itself and 30 tracks pre-loaded. I didn’t try the app yet and probably won’t. It has everything I need pre-installed.The sound is GREAT! Had multiple tracks that masked the high-pitched ringing in my ears.Quality looks really solid. It is highly portable and looks nice.I took a star away because it only has a USB charger – I would have preferred an AC charger as it is stationed bedside. And, since the buttons are not illuminated, it can be hard to change the settings in the dark.I wouldn’t let any of that deter you if you suffer with tinnitus. This is the real deal! Helps me sleep and cope with tinnitus.Highly Recommended.

Sound quality is good for what it does. Disappointed that it does not transmit Bluetooth only receives. I wanted to use it with earbuds. Oh well.
