Sturdy & Bright
The Verilux Happy Light is a well made unit that resembles a computer tablet. It’s got a solid feel, a bit heavier than I expected. The power cord slips into a port on the back of the unit with a small jack that looks like a USB-C male plug, and leads to a transformer block at the other end that plugs into an electrical power outlet. No problems with the cord. The only caveat about construction has to do with the plastic stand that supports the lamp. It’s solid, but the lamp is just a bit top heavy for the stand. The combination works very nicely but I take care when moving the lamp + stand from one place to another. With care, I think the stand should last a long time, but might not if you handle it carelessly.As for the quality of the light, I like it very much. It’s plenty bright for me as it stands near me on my desk. I don’t even use it at the brightest setting (one step down from brightest is where I’ve set it). It’s got color temperature selections; I use it at the coolest setting (it’s got two settings that are warmer). The unit runs cool to the feel. Since it’s LED, it doesn’t use much power. Seems like the power is converted into illumination, not heat.This compact unit is a fine replacement for the large, fluorescent unit I used to have. It seems quite effective in helping me fend off the depression & lassitude that comes from SAD. I heartily recommend this Verilux HappyLight to anyone who needs help with SAD and also needs a solid, portable unit at a modest price.

Terrific for depression
A doctor for whom I worked suggested I get a light box for depression. My depression is really bad in the morning, but get better as the day goes on. This is called diurnal mood variation and is a common feature of major depression AND seasonal affective disorder. The MD said to sit in front of the light box for 30 minutes or so right after I get up. It apparently helps reset your circadian rhythm (Google that if you aren’t familiar with the term). I didn’t notice a difference at first but after a couple of weeks of using this box, I do feel better. My depression is still there but not nearly as bad. The box is easy to use. It has a timer at the bottom and you can change the hue of the light too. It is VERY BRIGHT. Along with using this light every day, I take medication, exercise, eat healthy food and try to remain present in the moment — all are tools to fight the depression and anxiety I have. I think this light is terrific. Consider adding it to your ”blues toolbox.” Two thumbs up.

Very happy with this little light
It’s bigger than I thought it would be. This is a good thing, in my opinion. It looks and feels solid, sitting on my desk. I turned it sideways and leaned it against the base of my computer monitor at my work desk. It’s directly under my monitor on which I read my work emails in the morning, so I figure i’m getting the most benefit from it there.It is insanely bright at the highest setting. Surface of the sun at noon, bright. Which it is supposed to be, so I feel good about it. I don’t have a light meter, and I don’t honestly care that much, so I haven’t measured the output or anything. My eyes say it’s insanely bright and that’s good enough for me.It does have adjustable brightness, so I’ll admit to using it on the lowest setting as a normal light source when the days are cloudy and little natural sunlight comes in through the window. It does the job well there, too.The light is pure white and clear and very comfortable for my eyes. It does have other light temperatures, but I don’t like them so I don’t use them. Your mileage may vary. Options are good.The timer is consistently accurate to the minute, which is fun. I set it for an hour in the morning, and it turns off when the hour is up.I think it’s a rather attractive addition to my office setup. I like that it is a nice marbled colour instead of something stark white or plain black. It feels like a casual accent piece instead of anything institutional or cold. It takes up much less desk real estate than a traditional lamp, which is important in a small space.As far as mood alteration, I can’t honestly tell if it’s psychosomatic or if it’s actually making a tangible physical difference to my mood. How does one measure that objectively, when one is struggling with depression in the first place? What I can say is that it *seems* to make a difference, and a rather significant one at that. It is chemical free and there are no side effects, so even if it is psychosomatic I’ll take it.Does it fix everything and now the world is sunshine and butterflies and happy bunnies? No. It’s a lamp. But it does seem to improve my outlook, and that’s a huge step in the right direction.

Great product & great customer service
I suffer with depression during multiple overcast days in a row as well as during the winter. I was reading a lot about light therapy & decided to give the Luxe Happy sun lamp a try. I really have gotten relief from it & it held up well for almost 2 years when suddenly the light just shut off & wouldn’t turn back on. However, I have read in other reviews that they will send a replacement if it’s been under 3 years, so I reached out to their customer service. They were very kind & did say that they’d be sending a replacement. So I will come back& update this review when & if I get it & I will gladly raise the rating from 4 to 5 stars.Hopefully to get continued…Edit- Got my replacement! Raising product to 5 stars now, because the customer service is so wonderful.

I have had a very difficult time regulating my sleep – sometimes I sleep well, more often not, and I rarely get a full night’s sleep. Using this wonderful light has definitely helped. I use it at the same time every morning, on the highest setting, and set the timer for 30 minutes. I keep it at a slight angle at a distance of about 18 inches from my eyes and wow, I am definitely falling asleep sooner and sleeping better. It’s also very user friendly – the controls are simple, you can change the quality of the light if you dislike LED or prefer a warmer light, and you can gradually work your way up to the highest setting as there are four brightness settings. Definitely worth every penny.

Pleased with this product, did not know anyone that had one nor did I have any prior experience with this type of product. However, after buying this HappyLight, I do notice a difference in my mood and energy, when I missed a day, it was noticable, so I try to get an hour a day.Not sure how to recommend but I can say it has made a difference to my “body clock” and I have been more “happy” and had more energy, usually at this time of year (fall / winter) I am a mess and usually have a “cloud hanging over me”, but this product seems to be helping. Only had for a few months, so will know more as time goes on.
